Security Breach At Delhi Vidhan Sabha As Man Spirals Over Missing Nephew

A major security breach occurred at the Delhi Vidhan Sabha after Sarabjit Singh drove a white SUV through a VIP gate to demand action on his missing nephew's case. The Pilibhit native, reportedly suffering from mental health issues, entered Speaker Vijender Gupta’s car with flowers before his arrest. He now faces attempted murder charges following a violent night in police custody.

A major security breach rocked the national capital on Monday when a man driving a white Uttar Pradesh-registered SUV forcibly entered the Delhi Vidhan Sabha through the high-security VIP entrance at gate number 2. The driver, identified as Sarabjit Singh, a native of Pilibhit, breached the perimeter at approximately 2:05 pm, where CRPF personnel were deployed for security. Driving a new Tata Sierra with the registration number UP-26 AZ 8090, Singh stopped the vehicle abruptly after bypassing the barrier. He exited the car calmly while carrying a plastic bag containing a bouquet and a garland. In a series of startling actions, he approached the unlocked official vehicle of Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, who was present in his office at the time. Singh placed the flowers inside the Speaker’s car and sat inside for a brief duration before stepping out. He then placed the remaining items outside the Speaker’s office and returned to his vehicle, fleeing the scene after a sequence that lasted five to six minutes.

The Delhi Police subsequently arrested Sarabjit Singh and seized the vehicle, uncovering a desperate motive behind the intrusion. Investigations revealed that the act was a calculated attempt to draw high-level attention to the case of his 20-year-old nephew, Harman Singh, who has been missing from Hari Nagar in West Delhi since April 1. Although a missing person report had been filed at the local police station, Sarabjit had grown increasingly distraught. He had previously traveled to Nangal in Punjab and Bareilly in search of the youth. Following an altercation with family members, he reached Delhi on April 6. Family members stated that Sarabjit has been mentally unstable and undergoing treatment since December last year, supported by a prescription from Shahjahanpur. Fearing his deteriorating mental state, his family had falsely informed him that Harman had been found. While his family claims he intended to visit Gurudwara Bangla Sahib with the flowers, Sarabjit told investigators he targeted the Assembly hoping a high-ranking official would hear his plea.

Despite the family's claims of mental illness, police sources remain skeptical, noting that Sarabjit is financially well-off and recently purchased the Tata Sierra in February. No weapons were recovered from the vehicle or his person. The investigation further revealed that Sarabjit, unfamiliar with Delhi’s geography, paid two taxi drivers Rs 2,000 to sit in his car and guide him. After exiting the Assembly, he reportedly asked them for directions to Parliament. While these drivers are under investigation, they do not currently appear involved. Following his arrest, Sarabjit underwent a medical examination and was held in a police lock-up, where he exhibited extremely violent behavior, rattling metal grilles and making incoherent, bizarre claims, includin

Sarabjit Singh now faces charges of attempted murder and remains in custody pending his production before the Tis Hazari Court. Authorities are currently verifying call records and family medical claims to reconcile his erratic behavior with the gravity of the security lapse. This incident highlights a staggering vulnerability in the protection of the capital's legislative heart, where a single individual’s personal crisis successfully bypassed elite security protocols, raising urgent questions regarding the efficacy of VIP entrance safeguards and the desperation driving those lost within the legal system.
