AAP Sweeps Punjab Panchayat Polls, Claims Over 70% Seats in Landmark Grassroots Victory
AAP records a sweeping victory in Punjab panchayat elections, winning over 70% of seats. Leader Durgesh Pathak says the results reflect rising public support for the party’s governance, development agenda, and its aggressive anti-drug campaign nearly four years into power.
Speaking in New Delhi, Pathak said the scale of the win underscored AAP’s deepening connect with rural voters nearly four years after the party formed the government in Punjab. According to him, the panchayat election results demonstrate that the party’s policies and administrative approach continue to resonate strongly with people across villages and local bodies.
Pathak linked the electoral success to the state government’s focus on development and its intensified campaign against drug abuse. He pointed to the ongoing anti-drug drive, known as the “War Against Drugs,” stating that the initiative has received strong public backing and has emerged as a key factor influencing voter support. The mandate, he said, reflects widespread satisfaction with the government’s efforts to curb narcotics and take firm action against those involved in the drug trade.
The panchayat elections, which are considered a crucial indicator of public mood at the local level, are often seen as a test of a ruling party’s performance and credibility. AAP’s commanding majority across panchayats suggests sustained organizational strength and voter approval in rural Punjab, an area that plays a decisive role in the state’s political landscape.
Concluding his remarks, Pathak said the results send a clear message that people stand firmly behind the AAP government’s development work and its tough stance on drugs. The landslide victory, he added, strengthens the party’s position ahead of future electoral challenges and reinforces its claim of delivering governance that aligns with public expectations in Punjab.
