Security Tightened as Radical Protesters Target Indian High Commission in Dhaka

Radical protesters marched toward the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, triggering security concerns and forcing the mission to suspend operations from 2 pm. Authorities deployed forces to control the situation and closely monitored developments amid heightened diplomatic security.

Tensions flared in Bangladesh’s capital on Wednesday after a group described as radical elements staged an aggressive march toward the Indian High Commission, prompting heightened security measures and an early shutdown of diplomatic operations.

According to official sources, the protesters advanced toward the Indian mission in Dhaka, openly challenging security arrangements and creating a volatile situation in the surrounding area. Anticipating potential risks to personnel and property, the Indian High Commission suspended its official work from 2 pm as a precautionary step in view of the emerging security threat.

Local authorities moved swiftly to contain the situation. Security forces were deployed in and around the diplomatic enclave to prevent any breach and to maintain public order as the demonstration unfolded. The administration remained on high alert, closely monitoring developments to ensure that the protest did not escalate into violence or disrupt diplomatic norms.

While no immediate damage or injuries were reported, the incident underscored the fragile security environment faced by foreign diplomatic missions during periods of political or ideological unrest. Officials emphasized that protective measures were taken strictly in the interest of safety and in line with standard diplomatic security protocols.
