Food Safety Raid in Amroha Uncovers Massive Stock of Adulterated Rasgulla Supplies

A major food safety raid in Amroha’s Shahpur Paigamberpur village led to the seizure of 300 kg of adulterated rasgullas, 21 sacks of sugar, maize starch, and fake ghee. The joint operation by Amroha and Moradabad teams resulted in the trader’s arrest and the destruction of contaminated stock, sparking alarm among local vendors.

In a significant enforcement action against food adulteration, officials from the Food and Safety Department conducted a joint raid in Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district, uncovering a large cache of adulterated sweets and raw materials. The operation was carried out in Shahpur Paigamberpur village under the Didouli police station limits after authorities received specific information about suspected adulteration activities.

A coordinated team from both Amroha and Moradabad districts inspected the premises of a local rasgulla seller, where they discovered approximately 300 kilograms of rasgullas stored on-site. Along with the ready stock, the team seized 21 sacks of sugar, maize starch, and a quantity of fake ghee—ingredients believed to have been used to manufacture the adulterated sweets. Officials immediately ordered the destruction of the compromised stock to prevent its circulation in the market.

According to food department personnel present during the raid, the action was taken to curb the alarming rise in food adulteration incidents in the region. The discovery has triggered concern among residents and vendors, while also sending a clear warning to traders involved in unsafe food practices. The accused rasgulla seller was taken into custody following the operation.

The crackdown has created a sense of urgency within the local food trade sector, with authorities emphasizing that similar inspections will continue in order to protect public health and maintain food quality standards across the district.
