Bridge Section Collapses Over Auranga River in Gujarat’s Valsad, Several Workers Injured
A portion of an under-construction bridge over the Auranga River in Gujarat’s Valsad district collapsed after a girder failure, injuring several workers. Over 100 labourers were on site at the time. Rescue efforts are underway, and authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the incident.
According to preliminary information, the incident was caused by a damaged girder that failed during construction, leading to the partial collapse. Around 105 labourers were present at the site when the structure gave way. Initial reports indicate that four to five workers sustained injuries in the accident. They were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Local administration and emergency teams reached the location soon after the collapse, beginning rescue measures and securing the affected area. Officials have initiated a probe to determine the exact cause of the structural failure and to assess whether any lapses in safety protocols contributed to the incident.
The collapse has raised fresh questions about construction safety practices and oversight at infrastructure sites, particularly those involving large public works that carry major economic significance. Authorities are expected to conduct a detailed investigation to prevent similar incidents and ensure greater accountability in ongoing development projects.
