Drunken Man Brings Traffic to a Standstill at Sitapur Junction; Police Intervene to Restore Order
A drunken man triggered major traffic chaos at Sitapur’s Naipalapur junction after lying on the road to stop a tractor and later blocking a truck. Police intervened to clear the jam and took him into custody. The incident caused heavy congestion and raised concerns about public safety on busy routes.
According to officials, the man first sprawled across the main road, forcing an oncoming tractor to halt abruptly. Moments later, he positioned himself in the middle of the roadway again—this time attempting to stop a moving truck, drawing immediate concern from bystanders and drivers. Witnesses said several citizens, as well as local authorities, repeatedly tried to persuade him to move to safety, but he refused to comply.
The disturbance continued for an extended period until police officers reached the spot and physically removed him from the roadway. The man’s behaviour, described by authorities as dangerous and disruptive, caused a significant traffic backlog across the stretch, creating hardships for daily commuters and local residents.
Police have registered a case in connection with the incident and taken the man into custody to prevent further disorder. Officers noted that the intervention was necessary to safeguard both the individual and the public, given the location’s heavy traffic flow.
The incident has once again highlighted growing concerns over public safety risks posed by intoxicated individuals on busy routes, with residents calling for stricter enforcement and timely monitoring at major intersections to avoid similar disruptions.
