India Reaffirms Strategic Bilateral Commitment as High Commissioner Santosh Jha Meets Sri Lankan President After Election Victory
India reaffirmed its bilateral partnership with Sri Lanka as High Commissioner Santosh Jha met President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat to congratulate him on his election victory. The talks focused on development cooperation, anti-corruption reforms, digital governance support, and regional stability.
During the high-level engagement, High Commissioner Santosh Jha underlined the longstanding friendship and close ties between India and Sri Lanka. He emphasized the importance of sustaining strong bilateral cooperation and reiterated India’s readiness to support Sri Lanka’s development process in every possible manner, while expressing goodwill for the nation’s progress toward becoming a peaceful and stable country in the region.
The discussion also highlighted governance reforms, with the High Commissioner commending the President’s anti-corruption initiatives outlined in his manifesto. He particularly stressed the significance of digitalising government systems as an effective measure to combat corruption and improve administrative transparency.
India further reaffirmed its willingness to extend support in implementing digital governance reforms in Sri Lanka. Both sides underscored the continuity of stable and friendly relations between the two neighbouring countries, reflecting a shared commitment to cooperation and regional stability.
