As counting progressed, Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), surged ahead, leading in 109 of Tamil Nadu’s 234 Assembly seats. The AIADMK-led alliance followed in second place with leads in 65 seats, while the ruling DMK, in alliance with Congress and DMDK, trailed in third position with 59 seats.
Reacting to the emerging trends, SA Chandrasekhar expressed pride and emotional satisfaction while speaking to news agency ANI. He stated that both he and his wife were proud of their son, highlighting Vijay’s unwavering confidence over the past two years. Chandrasekhar recalled Vijay’s assertion that he would become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, emphasizing that his son had maintained complete self-belief throughout the campaign.
According to Chandrasekhar, Vijay had clearly stated his intention to contest independently without forming alliances, declaring that he would stand on his own strength. He described the electoral performance as a historic success and victory, not only for Vijay but also for the people of Tamil Nadu.
Chandrasekhar further noted that Vijay had nurtured a long-standing desire to contribute to society and serve the people of Tamil Nadu over the past three decades. He stated that women regard him as a son, young people see him as a brother, and older citizens consider him a family member.
