Mother Clutches Son in Final Embrace as Narmada Queen Cruise Capsizes in Bargi Dam Tragedy
A tragic boat capsizing incident at Bargi Dam near Jabalpur resulted in nine deaths, including a mother, her son, and her mother, with six missing. Survivors reported ignored warnings and delayed life jackets. Authorities suspended staff, launched a probe, halted cruises, and announced compensation as rescue operations continue.
Eyewitness survivor Sangeeta Kori recounted that repeated pleas to return were ignored despite rapidly intensifying winds. She further stated that life jackets were distributed only after panic had already set in among passengers. Disturbing video evidence indicates that several passengers were not wearing life jackets prior to the incident, despite an existing weather alert warning of adverse conditions.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav ordered a formal investigation into the incident. Administrative action was taken with the suspension of responsible staff members. Statewide cruise operations have been temporarily halted as a precautionary measure. The government has also announced compensation for the victims’ families while rescue teams continue intensive search operations for the missing individuals.
The incident has raised serious concerns regarding safety protocols, emergency preparedness, and compliance with weather advisories in state-run tourism operations. Authorities continue to examine procedural lapses as the investigation progresses.
