Ganga Expressway a Symbol of Development and National Confidence, Says Gautam Adani
Gautam Adani highlights the Ganga Expressway as a transformative infrastructure project in Uttar Pradesh, connecting 12 districts and over 500 villages. The 594-km corridor is set to reduce travel time, boost development, and symbolize India’s growing infrastructure strength and national confidence.
Addressing the gathering during NDTV’s “Apni Baat, Apno ke Saath” programme, Adani emphasized that the 594-kilometre expressway in Uttar Pradesh is not merely a transportation corridor but a development lifeline linking 12 districts and more than 500 villages. He stated that the project is expected to impact over 80 million people, significantly enhancing connectivity and economic opportunities.
Drawing a parallel with the Ganga river’s historical and cultural importance, Adani said the expressway would similarly nurture growth and aspirations. He noted that just as the river has sustained faith and tradition for centuries, the expressway would emerge as a new channel of development, connecting communities and driving progress.
The project is also set to drastically reduce travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj, cutting the journey from approximately 10 to 11 hours to about 5 to 6 hours. The six-lane highway, expandable to eight lanes, passes through 12 districts, including Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Budaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, and Pratapgarh.
Adani further highlighted the expressway’s structural capability, stating that it is designed to allow fighter jet landings if required, underscoring its strategic and engineering strength. He described the project as a reflection of the nation’s growing infrastructure capabilities and confidence.
Constructed at an estimated cost of approximately Rs 36,230 crore, the Ganga Expressway is the longest expressway in Uttar Pradesh and among the largest newly built road infrastructure projects in India.
Concluding his remarks, Adani asserted that the expressway represents a critical bridge between cultural heritage and modern development, poised to accelerate not only the progress of Uttar Pradesh but also contribute significantly to national growth.
