Operation Global Hunt: India Launches Worldwide Crackdown on Fugitives Linked to Drug and Organised Crime Networks

India has launched Operation Global Hunt to target fugitives involved in international drug and organised crime networks. The initiative involves coordination with Interpol, leading to arrests, deportations, drug seizures worth thousands of crores, convictions, and repatriation of offenders from foreign countries to India under a global enforcement framework.

Indian security forces have initiated one of the most extensive international crackdowns targeting criminals who commit offences in India and subsequently take refuge abroad. The large-scale initiative, named Operation Global Hunt, has been launched under a coordinated framework directing multiple central agencies to work in close cooperation with Interpol to execute joint operations across several countries.

The operational framework for Operation Global Hunt was developed by Indian agencies during a prior Interpol conference. Under this mechanism, the primary objective is to trace, locate, and arrest fugitives with the assistance of Interpol, followed by securing their extradition or deportation to India through special aircraft arrangements after submitting comprehensive case dossiers to the concerned foreign governments.

According to official sources, the operation is primarily focused on individuals linked to international drug trafficking syndicates and organised crime networks. In one of the early successes of this initiative, Indian agencies have already facilitated the deportation and repatriation of Salim Ismail Dola, identified as an associate of Dawood Ibrahim, from Istanbul.

Investigating agencies have also uncovered what they describe as a “drug-terror network” responsible for coordinating the supply of narcotics into India while operating from foreign jurisdictions. As part of the ongoing probe, eleven key operatives associated with this network have been identified, including Asif Iqbal Memon, Hazra Iqbal Memon, Junaid Iqbal Memon, Harmeet Singh, Pradeep Singh, Paramjit Dhaliwal, Sunny Gosalvis, Jaswinder Singh, Taishan Bishnoi, Hali Salim, and Sandeep Dhuniya.

In terms of enforcement outcomes, security agencies have reported the seizure of approximately 133,000 kilograms of narcotics in 2025, valued at around Rs 2,000 crore. Additionally, 77,000 kilograms of drugs worth Rs 3,889 crore were destroyed as part of ongoing anti-narcotics operations.

Authorities have further confirmed that 37 Interpol notices have been issued in connection with these cases, while 265 drug offenders have been convicted. In addition, five fugitives have been successfully repatriated to India under coordinated international enforcement efforts.

Operation Global Hunt represents a significant escalation in India’s transnational law enforcement strategy, underscoring intensified cooperation with global policing agencies to dismantle cross-border criminal and narcotics networks.
