Key Accused Arrested at Mumbai Airport in NESCO Concert Drug Overdose Case After Fleeing to Thailand
Mumbai Police arrest key accused Mahesh Hira Khemlani at airport in NESCO concert drug overdose case after he fled to Thailand. Two MBA students had died, and investigation now focuses on a wider drug supply network linked to the event.
The accused, identified as Mahesh Hira Khemlani, also known as “Mark”, was taken into custody by the Vanrai Police immediately after he arrived in Mumbai from Bangkok late on Thursday night. According to officials, Khemlani had been absconding since the incident at the NESCO concert, where two MBA students died following a suspected drug overdose.
Police stated that after the incident, Khemlani allegedly fled to Thailand in an attempt to evade arrest. Acting on intelligence inputs, authorities tracked his return and apprehended him as soon as he landed in Mumbai.
Investigators believe that Khemlani was a key figure in the drug supply chain linked to the case. Preliminary findings suggest that he may have played a central role in distributing illegal substances at the concert, which led to the fatal overdose of the two students.
Police sources confirmed that further investigation is ongoing to determine the full extent of the drug network involved in the case. Authorities are also working to identify and trace other individuals who may be connected to the supply and distribution of narcotics at the event.
The arrest marks a crucial development in the case, strengthening the investigation into the suspected drug network and raising concerns over the presence of illegal substances at large-scale public events in the city.
