Acting swiftly on the threat, a district-wide blockade was initiated through the control room. During routine patrol, the Anti-Narcotics Cell team spotted two suspicious youths riding a numberless motorcycle in Sector-23. Under the leadership of Incharge Praveen Kumar, the police team immediately pursued the suspects.
The accused were cornered near the dumping ground close to the NIFT institute. Upon noticing the police presence, both individuals panicked and attempted to flee. However, they lost control and fell off their motorcycle. Despite the fall, they tried to escape and opened fire on the police team. Considering the gravity of the situation, the police retaliated in self-defense to neutralize the threat. A total of six rounds were fired from both sides during the encounter.
Both accused sustained injuries in the exchange and were immediately taken by the police team to the nearest district hospital for treatment. According to initial interrogation, the accused confessed to being linked with the Noni Rana gang. They revealed that they were acting under the instructions of an associate named Monu Gujjar and were planning to carry out a firing incident at Neelkanth Dhaba in Karnal district.
The accused further disclosed that they had procured the illegal weapons from Chauki village in Panchkula. Police recovered two illegal .32 bore firearms from their possession at the scene. Given the seriousness of the case, a formal complaint has been submitted to the Station House Officer of Chandimandir Police Station for further legal proceedings.
Authorities have launched an in-depth investigation into the criminal records of the accused, their gang affiliations, and any other potential criminal activities linked to the network. The incident underscores the escalating challenges posed by organized crime groups and highlights the prompt and decisive action taken by law enforcement agencies to prevent a major crime.
