Galgotias University Ignites Future of Sustainable Mobility with 9th National SIEP E-Bike Challenge
Galgotias University hosts the 9th SIEP E-Bike Challenge in collaboration with ISIEINDIA, bringing together 350+ engineering students from 23 teams across India. The event showcases innovative electric bike prototypes designed for energy efficiency and sustainable mobility, addressing global fuel stability concerns and fostering industry-ready skills for the future of clean transportation.
The intensive five-day challenge forced young engineers to navigate the complexities of electric bike architecture, where they were tasked with designing, developing, and testing functional E-Bike prototypes. Every prototype was subjected to grueling evaluations focusing on energy efficiency, creative innovation, mechanical performance, and real-world applicability. This dynamic platform allowed student innovators to showcase their technical capabilities and problem-solving skills, directly addressing the modern world’s most critical energy and mobility concerns. During the event, Mr. Vinod Gupta, Founder and President of ISIEINDIA, underscored the vital importance of industry-aligned student innovation in the face of escalating global energy challenges.
Dr. Dhruv Galgotia, CEO of Galgotias University, provided a stark perspective on the necessity of the competition, stating that the urgency for sustainable and self-reliant mobility solutions has peaked as geopolitical tensions in the Gulf region continue to disrupt global energy supply chains and fuel stability. He noted that the SIEP E-Bike Challenge empowers the next generation to develop practical, scalable alternatives that mitigate dependency on conventional fuels, thereby contributing to a more resilient and sustainable future. The significance of the mission was further solidified by the presence of distinguished dignitaries, including Sh. Sushil Kumar Agarwal, Regional Director of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship; Mr. Rajiv E, Executive Director (International) at the Automobile Centre of Excellence; Dr. Ajay Shrivastav, CEO of Anexion Transformation; and Mr. Nitin Khindria, CHRO of Omega Seiki Mobility.
The competition saw participation from elite institutions across India, including DIT University, Dr. D.Y. Patil Institute of Technology, Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Amrutvahini College of Engineering, Raj Kumar Goel Institute of Technology, JSS Academy of Technical Education, VNRVJIET, Shree Rayeshwar Institute, Pimpri Chinchwad College, Muthoot Institute, RVR and JC College of Engineering, St. Joseph's College, Sri Ramakrishna Institute, Zeal College, A. P. Shah Institute, Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, KL University, Jabalpur Engineering College, and RV College of Engineering. By building functional and energy-efficient prototypes, these students gained invaluable industry-ready exposure while proposing ideas to solve fuel dependency and environmental degradation.
As the E-Bikes were pushed to their limits in real-time conditions across the university campus, the event stood as a testament to the surging importance of clean energy innovation and student-led engineering. Galgotias University, through its hosting of the SIEP E-Bike Challenge, has strengthened its institutional commitment to experiential learning and industry engagement. This initiative marks a definitive step in supporting the national transition toward a cleaner, more efficient future, ensuring that academic learning remains deeply aligned with the urgent requirements of the global automotive and energy industries.
