Double Murder Rocks Araria: Youth Beheaded in Public Market, Accused Lynched Before Police

The initial horror unfolded at the Forbesganj marketing yard when the victim, identified as Nur Hasan, a resident of Amauna village under the Bathnaha police station area, arrived to purchase vegetables. A verbal altercation broke out between Hasan and a sattu vendor, Rahul Chauhan. The confrontation escalated violently as Chauhan allegedly stabbed Hasan in the stomach before slitng his throat and completely severing his head from his body. Eyewitnesses reported a chilling scene where the accused stood in the market for a considerable duration holding the severed head, while onlookers chose to record videos rather than intervene.

Upon receiving information of the murder, police arrived at the scene to take custody of the body and initiate an investigation, but the accused had initially fled the immediate spot. However, the fury of the local villagers over the murder of Nabi Hussain (Nur Hasan) peaked as they tracked down Rahul Chauhan. The mob dragged him back to the site of the crime and, in a defiant display of rage, beat him to death while police personnel stood by. The cycle of violence continued as the enraged crowd attacked and vandalized an ambulance that arrived to retrieve the bodies, maintaining a high-tension standoff in the region.

The unrest spread further as antisocial elements within the crowd engaged in large-scale vandalism throughout Forbesganj. The mob targeted the Forbesganj Sub-divisional Hospital, forcing doctors and medical staff to flee the premises to save their lives. Araria Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumar has since arrived at the scene with a heavy police contingent to restore order and pacify the agitated public. These twin tragedies have not only paralyzed the local administration but have left an indelible mark on the community, highlighting a disturbing collapse of the rule of law and a terrifying surge in public brutality.
