Priyanka Gandhi Alleges Delay in Congress Housing Project for Wayanad Landslide Victims, Targets LDF Government
Priyanka Gandhi alleges delays by Kerala’s LDF government in approving a Congress housing project for Wayanad landslide victims, while targeting corruption, governance failures, and political collusion ahead of the April 9 Assembly elections.
Addressing a United Democratic Front (UDF) corner meeting in Kalpetta, she claimed that approvals for the Congress-led project were granted only after the Left Democratic Front (LDF) inaugurated its own township initiative. “I am sure our colleagues in the Indian Union Muslim League faced similar hurdles,” she said, suggesting that opposition-led efforts were obstructed.
Her remarks come amid allegations of irregularities related to Congress’s fund collection and utilisation for the Wayanad housing project, an issue that has put the party under scrutiny. Targeting Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Priyanka Gandhi questioned why no action had been taken against him despite corruption allegations, while opposition leaders across the country face probes by central agencies.
“It is clear that there is a tacit understanding between them, and they are working together for political gain,” she alleged, in an apparent reference to the BJP-led Centre.
She further criticised the LDF government’s decade-long tenure, alleging widespread corruption, rising unemployment, mounting state debt, and increased taxation that has burdened citizens. Highlighting the issue of growing human-animal conflict in Kerala’s hill regions, the Wayanad MP said that resolving the crisis requires political will and cooperation, which she claimed the LDF government lacks.
Urging voters to support the UDF in the April 9 Assembly elections, she alleged that the ruling front “works for corporates rather than the common people,” framing the election as a critical moment for accountability and governance in the state.SA
