Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the 10th Inter-Departmental Badminton Championship at Dehradun’s Parade Ground, marking a decade of the annual tournament aimed at promoting sportsmanship, fitness, and team spirit among state government employees.

Dehradun witnessed a vibrant sporting moment as the 10th Inter-Departmental Badminton Championship was formally inaugurated at the Multipurpose Sports Hall in the Parade Ground, marking a decade of sustained commitment to sports within the state administration. The opening ceremony was led by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who flagged off the tournament amid enthusiastic participation from government departments across the state.

The championship, now in its tenth consecutive year, has become a regular fixture in Uttarakhand’s official sports calendar. Teams representing various state departments are competing in the event, reflecting a growing emphasis on physical fitness, teamwork, and recreational engagement among government employees. The tournament aims to foster a healthy competitive spirit while offering employees a platform to showcase and refine their sporting abilities beyond routine administrative responsibilities.

During the event, players will be provided with improved training support and sporting facilities to ensure a professional and encouraging competitive environment. Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dhami extended his best wishes to all participants and underscored the broader value of sports in public life. He noted that sporting activities play a vital role not only in maintaining physical well-being but also in cultivating discipline, cooperation, and a strong sense of team spirit—qualities that are equally essential in governance and public service.

The continuation of the inter-departmental badminton championship for a full decade highlights the state’s consistent efforts to integrate sports into workplace culture. As matches get underway, the tournament stands as a reminder that structured sporting initiatives can strengthen camaraderie among departments while promoting a healthier and more balanced professional environment across the state administration.
