Interstate Liquor Smuggling Racket Busted in Mainpuri, Two Arrested with Massive Consignment
Mainpuri police busted an interstate liquor smuggling racket, arresting two traffickers and seizing 95 cartons of illegal alcohol. The joint operation by Ghiror police and the surveillance team is part of a broader crackdown on organized illicit liquor trade in Uttar Pradesh.
The arrests were made during a coordinated operation carried out by the Ghiror police station team in collaboration with the district surveillance unit. Acting on specific inputs, the teams intercepted the suspects and recovered 95 cartons of illegal liquor from their possession, dealing a substantial blow to the supply chain of illicit alcohol in the region.
Following the seizure, police registered a case against the accused under the relevant legal provisions and took them into custody for further questioning. Authorities believe the two men had been actively involved in the illegal liquor trade for an extended period, using interstate routes to transport and distribute the contraband.
Providing details of the operation, SP (Rural) Rahul Mithas stated that the investigation is ongoing to determine the origin of the seized liquor and identify its intended destination. Police are also probing possible links to a wider smuggling network that may extend beyond district and state borders.
Officials say the action reflects the administration’s continued focus on dismantling organized crime related to illegal liquor, which poses serious risks to public health and law and order. Further arrests are not being ruled out as the investigation progresses and additional leads are examined.
