Husband Seeks Police Intervention to Rescue Wife From Alleged Tantric Influence in Uttar Pradesh
A teacher from Aligarh has approached the Bulandshahr SSP alleging that a self-styled tantric manipulated his wife and son with bizarre rituals, promising to cure the child’s diabetes. Police may probe the claims amid concerns of exploitation, superstition, and psychological control.
The complainant, identified as Pramod, is currently employed as a teacher in Aligarh. He told officials that his family’s ordeal began when an accused tantric allegedly promised to cure his son’s diabetes through occult practices. According to Pramod, the man gradually gained control over his wife’s actions, convincing her that extreme and bizarre rituals were necessary for the child’s recovery.
In his complaint to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Pramod alleged that the tantric forced his wife and son to undergo humiliating and irrational acts, including being bathed in alcohol and participating in strange “treatments” conducted both at their home and in a cemetery. He claimed these acts were presented as essential spiritual remedies but instead amounted to psychological manipulation and abuse.
Pramod further alleged that his wife appeared to be completely under the tantric’s influence, to the extent that she was no longer acting independently. Fearing for her mental well-being and his son’s safety, he sought help from his in-laws and jointly approached the SSP, requesting immediate intervention to protect his family from further harm.
Police sources indicated that the complaint has been received and that the matter may be examined further to determine whether criminal offences, including fraud or exploitation, have been committed. Officials have not ruled out a formal investigation pending preliminary verification of the allegations.
The case underscores a recurring challenge faced by authorities, where vulnerable individuals are allegedly manipulated through claims of supernatural cures. As police assess the complaint, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for awareness and vigilance against practices that exploit fear, faith, and desperation under the cover of mysticism.
