Air India and IndiGo Warn Passengers as Dense Fog Disrupts Winter Flight Operations

Air India and IndiGo have issued travel advisories as dense fog disrupts winter flight operations across Delhi and northern India. Reduced visibility at major airports may cause delays and cancellations, with airlines activating special measures to assist passengers during the holiday travel season.

As winter fog tightens its grip across large parts of northern India, leading airlines Air India and IndiGo have issued travel advisories urging passengers to prepare for potential delays and disruptions during the busy holiday travel period. Reduced visibility at several key airports has already begun to impact flight schedules, prompting airlines to activate special measures to minimise inconvenience.

In an advisory issued on Friday, Air India said it is closely monitoring weather conditions and remains on high alert to manage fog-related challenges. The airline acknowledged the heightened importance of travel plans during the holiday season and assured passengers that teams are working around the clock to restore normal operations as quickly as possible.

According to Air India, forecasts from the weather department indicate the likelihood of dense fog over Delhi and parts of northern and eastern India. As a result, flight operations at major airports including Delhi, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Varanasi and Patna are expected to be affected, with possible cascading delays across the airline’s wider network.

The carrier stated that it has already implemented proactive measures to limit disruptions and has shared relevant updates through official channels. In cases of delays or cancellations, Air India said its ground staff would remain available at all hours to assist passengers and arrange suitable alternatives.
