₹5.1 Million Gold Crown Stolen from Prominent Bihar Temple, CCTV Footage Aids Probe

Thieves have stolen a gold crown worth ₹5.1 million from the Thavewali Mata temple in Bihar’s Gopalganj district. The 251-gram crown, donated last year by a Jharkhand businessman, was taken in a nighttime theft now under police investigation with CCTV footage as key evidence.

A major theft has shaken the religious community in Bihar’s Gopalganj district after thieves broke into the revered Thavewali Mata temple and made away with a gold crown valued at approximately ₹5.1 million. The incident, which occurred under the cover of darkness, has triggered a high-level police investigation after CCTV footage of the theft surfaced.

According to officials, the stolen crown weighed about 251 grams and was made of gold. It had been offered to the deity last year by a businessman from neighboring Jharkhand as a devotional donation. The crown was kept on the idol inside the temple premises, which is considered one of the most significant centers of faith in the region and attracts large numbers of devotees throughout the year.

Police sources said the theft came to light when temple authorities discovered the crown missing and immediately alerted law enforcement. CCTV cameras installed in and around the temple reportedly captured visuals of the suspects during the act, providing investigators with crucial leads. The footage is currently being analyzed to identify those involved and trace their movements before and after the crime.

Local police have registered a case and launched an intensive search operation, focusing on known criminal networks and routes that could have been used to transport the stolen ornament. Senior officials stated that teams have been formed to pursue multiple angles of the investigation, including possible insider assistance and inter-district links.
