The Home Minister pointed to major national programmes such as the National Infrastructure Pipeline, Bharatmala and Sagarmala as key drivers of this transformation. According to Shah, these large-scale initiatives have redefined how infrastructure planning and execution are approached in India, focusing on long-term capacity building rather than short-term fixes.
Shah noted that the National Infrastructure Pipeline has played a central role in streamlining investment and coordination across sectors, while Bharatmala has accelerated the development of highways and road connectivity across the country. At the same time, the Sagarmala programme has focused on modernising ports and improving coastal and maritime infrastructure, strengthening India’s trade and logistics network.
He emphasised that these projects have not only expanded physical infrastructure but have also contributed to faster economic growth by reducing logistics costs and improving connectivity between production centres, markets and ports. According to Shah, the integrated approach adopted over the last decade has helped India move towards a more efficient and future-ready infrastructure ecosystem.
Concluding his remarks, the Home Minister said the cumulative impact of these initiatives reflects the Modi government’s long-term vision for national development. He asserted that the focus on next-generation infrastructure has laid a durable foundation for sustained economic growth, enhanced competitiveness and stronger connectivity, positioning India to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving global economy.
