Mau Police Launch ‘Operation Torch’ to Verify Residents in Informal Settlements

Mau Police in Uttar Pradesh carried out “Operation Torch” in the Kotwali area, conducting verification of people living in shanties to identify infiltrators and suspicious individuals. The drive aimed to enhance regional security and ensure peace by strengthening monitoring in vulnerable settlements.

In a bid to strengthen local security measures, police in Uttar Pradesh’s Mau district conducted an extensive verification drive under the banner of “Operation Torch” in the Kotwali police station area. The operation focused on residents living in makeshift shanties and informal settlements, as authorities sought to ensure that no unidentified or suspicious individuals were residing in the locality.

According to officials, the drive was initiated to identify potential infiltrators and persons of interest who might pose a risk to public safety. Teams moved through clusters of temporary dwellings, checking identification documents and recording details of those living there. Police said the exercise formed part of a wider strategy intended to bolster peace and stability in the district by closely monitoring vulnerable areas.

The verification campaign, officers added, reflects the department’s continuing efforts to maintain vigilance and prevent unlawful activities by tightening oversight in zones often overlooked during routine policing. As the operation concluded, authorities emphasized that such proactive measures remain essential to preserving security and reassuring residents.
