First BRICS Culture Working Group Meeting Under India’s 2026 Presidency Concludes in New Delhi

The first Culture Working Group meeting under India’s BRICS Presidency 2026 concluded in New Delhi, chaired by Vivek Aggarwal with virtual participation from BRICS nations. The meeting highlighted cultural cooperation, shared heritage, and people-to-people exchanges, aligning with India’s theme of Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.

 

The inaugural Culture Working Group meeting under India’s BRICS Presidency 2026 concluded in New Delhi today, marking a significant step in advancing cultural diplomacy and multilateral cooperation among member nations. The meeting was chaired by the Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Vivek Aggarwal, and saw virtual participation from all BRICS countries.

The Indian delegation was represented by the Member Secretary of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, Dr Sachchidanand Joshi, along with other senior officials. The discussions underscored India’s strategic vision for its BRICS Presidency, with a strong emphasis on strengthening cultural engagement and enhancing people-to-people exchanges across member states.

In an official social media statement, the Ministry of Culture highlighted that India’s leadership of BRICS is focused on promoting cultural connectivity, shared heritage, and deeper collaboration among participating countries. The ministry further stated that these initiatives are aimed at fostering long-term cultural understanding and reinforcing strategic cooperation within the grouping.

The theme of India’s BRICS Presidency, “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” formed the guiding framework of the meeting, reflecting the country’s broader diplomatic and cultural priorities on the global stage.
