Mumbai Police Bust Sensational Kidnapping and Robbery Plot Masterminded by Former Employee
The Mumbai Antop Hill police have solved a sensational ₹32.5 lakh kidnapping and robbery case, arresting six suspects within six hours. Investigations revealed the victim's former employee masterminded the plot, trailing Shravan Laxman Rawal in a Bolero jeep before dumping him in Ghatkopar. Police recovered ₹29.69 lakh during raids in Mumbai, Nalasopara, and Goa as the hunt for two fugitives continues.
The incident unfolded when the victim, Shravan Laxman Rawal, a resident of Virar, was intercepted while traveling through Antop Hill with a bag containing ₹37 lakh, a portion of which remained after he had delivered part of an original ₹87 lakh sum in Andheri. As Rawal proceeded on his route, a Bolero jeep shadowed his movements before the occupants forcibly kidnapped him. Under the shroud of threats and intimidation, the assailants robbed him of the cash and subsequently dumped him in Ghatkopar before fleeing the scene. While the initial investigation yielded no immediate clues, the police pivoted their strategy to scrutinize Rawal’s workplace and professional connections to identify potential leads.
This meticulous approach led investigators to the former employee who had orchestrated the tip-off to the gang. Acting with urgency, the police conducted a series of raids across Mumbai, Nalasopara, and Goa, resulting in the apprehension of six suspects within a mere six-hour window. During the arrests, the authorities successfully recovered ₹29.69 lakh of the stolen cash. While the core of the group is in custody, the police have intensified their search for two remaining fugitives linked to this well-planned crime. This decisive action by the Antop Hill police underscores a significant victory against organized robbery, highlighting the proficiency of the department in resolving complex criminal conspiracies through rapid intelligence gathering and tactical execution.
