PM Modi Promises ‘Hisaab’ in Bengal; Pledges Double Engine Government to End Corruption and Fear

In a high-octane Haldia rally, PM Narendra Modi targets Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool government over "cut money" and "loot," promising a BJP double engine government to transform West Bengal. Outlining six major guarantees including the 7th Pay Commission and the expulsion of infiltrators, Modi vows a "Sabka Hisaab" era to restore the rule of law and end the atmosphere of fear.

HALDIA — Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack against the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool government in West Bengal on Thursday, asserting that the state's administration has been defined by a throughline of cut money, loot, and appeasement. Addressing a high-stakes poll rally in Haldia, the Prime Minister made a forceful case for the installation of a “double engine government,” referring to the Bharatiya Janata Party, arguing that Bengal’s benefit does not lie in opposing the Prime Minister. Modi emphasized that real progress is realized when the Prime Minister and Chief Minister work in tandem to directly benefit the populace, claiming a BJP administration would specifically make Bengal self-reliant in fisheries and food production.

As Bengal approaches a two-phase election on April 23 and April 29, with votes set for counting on May 4, the Prime Minister pitched the BJP as the definitive alternative by promising six specific guarantees. He coupled these promises with a sharp “hisaab” jab aimed at the Trinamool Congress. The first guarantee focuses on dismantling what Modi described as an “atmosphere of fear” spread by the Trinamool, where citizens are currently compelled to seek justice from the courts. He vowed that a BJP government would restore faith in the rule of law and replace fear with trust. The second guarantee centers on administrative accountability, with the Prime Minister pledging that the government system will be dedicated to serving the people.

The third and fourth guarantees target systemic corruption and judicial retribution. Modi assured that all files regarding every scam, act of corruption, and injustice committed against daughters will be opened for investigation. He warned that under Trinamool rule, any individual engaged in corruption—from ministers to guards—will find their rightful place in jail, asserting that no Trinamool goon will evade justice or be permitted to embezzle public funds. Alleging that the current administration runs a syndicate-driven system where nothing moves without commissions, Modi stated that factories run on trust rather than syndicates, a quality he claims only the BJP can provide.

The Prime Minister further declared a firm stance on regional security and welfare as his fifth guarantee, stating that while refugees will receive every constitutional right, infiltrators will be expelled. For his sixth guarantee, Modi addressed the concerns of government employees and teachers, promising the immediate implementation of the 7th Pay Commission upon the formation of a BJP government in the state. Underlining his core philosophy of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas," Modi concluded with a stern warning to the incumbent leadership, promising that in Bengal, there will also be "hisaab," ensuring those who have looted the state are held strictly accountable.
