=TMC Goon’s Alleged Threats During Door-to-Door Campaign Ahead of West Bengal Election Spark Outrage
A viral video from West Bengal’s Baharampur constituency shows an alleged TMC goon, identified as Raju Mondal, threatening voters during a door-to-door campaign ahead of elections. Shared by journalist Shafiqul Islam, the footage raises serious concerns over voter intimidation and electoral integrity.
Journalist Shafiqul Islam shared the video on his YouTube channel ‘Arambagh TV’ on Thursday (2nd April), bringing the incident into public focus. In the viral video, the TMC goon is heard issuing direct warnings to residents regarding their voting choices.
“You cannot vote on the lotus (the election symbol of the BJP). If there is chaos on the voting day, then there is no need to go and cast your vote. I will send sweets to your home,” he said, implying consequences for those who do not comply.
He further warned, “If you want to make us win because TMC is there for you 24/7, then those who support us will need to cast their vote. No votes should go to waste this year. I am telling this clearly.” His statements suggested an attempt to influence voter behavior through intimidation and coercion.
A woman, who appeared to be intimidated by the TMC goon, was heard reassuring him that she would do the needful. Escalating the situation further, the accused claimed, “We will note who is casting their votes from each house. Our cameras will be present this time. It will be live this time,” indicating alleged surveillance and monitoring of voters.
The video is said to be from the Baharampur Assembly constituency in Murshidabad district of West Bengal. According to Shafiqul Islam, the accused TMC goon has been identified as Raju Mondal.
The emergence of the video has intensified scrutiny over the conduct of political campaigns in the region, highlighting concerns regarding voter intimidation and the integrity of the electoral process.
