Modi Calls for ‘Karma Yogi’ Mindset, Emphasises Duty, Technology, and Governance Reform at Karmayogi Sadhana Saptah 2026

Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged officials to adopt a “Karma Yogi” mindset at Karmayogi Sadhana Saptah 2026, highlighting duty-driven governance, technology, and institutional reform as key pillars for achieving a developed India by 2047, alongside improved service delivery and coordinated national growth.

Speaking at the Karmayogi Sadhana Saptah event via video conferencing, Narendra Modi on Thursday called on government officials to adopt the mindset of a “Karma Yogi”, underlining the importance of duty, technology, and forward-looking governance in achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047.

Referring to the recent inauguration of Seva Teerth, the Prime Minister reiterated the country’s commitment to building a “Viksit Bharat”. He stressed that rapid economic expansion, modern infrastructure, technological advancement, and a skilled workforce are essential to realise this goal. He noted that public institutions and civil servants play a central role in improving governance and enhancing the quality of life for citizens.

Highlighting India’s growing aspirations, Modi said that officials must align their work with the expectations of the people. He urged them to focus on improving ease of living and ensuring better service delivery, while staying committed to their responsibilities.

Expanding on the long-term vision, the Prime Minister said that every decision taken today should be guided by its impact on the country’s future. He emphasised that individual responsibility and transformation among civil servants can drive broader institutional change, which is crucial for achieving national development goals by 2047.

Emphasising the growing role of technology, he noted that digital tools have significantly transformed governance, service delivery, and the economy over the past decade. With the rise of artificial intelligence, he said, these changes are expected to accelerate further, making technological understanding essential for effective public service. He also called for eliminating administrative silos and reducing regional disparities, stressing the need for greater coordination among states and institutions.

The week-long Karmayogi Sadhana Saptah 2026, organised by the Capacity Building Commission, is being held from April 2 to 8. Marking the Commission’s foundation day and five years of Mission Karmayogi, the initiative brings together central ministries, states, union territories, and over 250 training institutions to strengthen the skills and capabilities of civil servants through workshops, discussions, and digital learning platforms.

The address underscores a decisive shift towards duty-driven governance, technological integration, and institutional reform, positioning civil servants at the core of India’s long-term vision to achieve a developed nation status by 2047.
