India Witnesses Mourning for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as Regional Conflict Escalates
Iran’s Supreme Leader’s representative in India praises public mourning for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Lucknow as West Asia conflict intensifies. With US-Israel strikes, Iranian retaliation, protests in India, and Trump’s warning, tensions escalate with global implications.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Abdul Majid Hakim Elahi stated that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei “was the voice of those who had no voice of their own” and “the voice of conscience.” He emphasized that those who gathered did so voluntarily, adding, “These people have come here of their own free will. No one compelled them to come here.” He further remarked that the turnout reflected India’s intrinsic values of “loyalty, humanity, and morality.”
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in joint military strikes carried out by the United States and Israel on February 28, an घटना that marked the beginning of the West Asia conflict. In response, Iran launched retaliatory strikes against US and Israeli assets in the region, significantly widening the scope and intensity of the conflict.
The developments triggered widespread protests by the Shia community against the United States and Israel across India, reflecting the broader geopolitical and emotional impact of the события.
On Wednesday, Iran's Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, son of late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, called for a comprehensive nationwide drive to restore infrastructure and address the destruction caused by the conflict, according to state broadcaster Press TV. His appeal formed part of a broader message issued to mark Islamic Republic Day and National Nature Day.
In his address, the Supreme Leader stressed that national efforts must now focus on ensuring the country’s continued prosperity in the aftermath of the conflict. He noted that recent external hostilities had not only affected the population but had specifically “targeted its land and natural environment.” He strongly condemned the actions of the opposition, stating that at a time when the “vile and ruthless American and Zionist enemy knows no human, moral, or existential limits in its savagery,” the nation must remain focused on internal growth and resilience.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump warned that Iran could face severe military action in the coming weeks amid the ongoing conflict. Addressing the nation, Trump said that Iran would be hit “extremely hard” as diplomatic talks between the two sides continue in an effort to sign a deal to end the conflict, which has now been ongoing for over a month. He further stated that Washington’s action against the Islamic Republic is “on the cusp” of ending what he described as Tehran’s “sinister threat” to the United States and the world.
The unfolding developments underscore a deepening geopolitical crisis, with implications extending beyond the region, as global powers remain engaged in a volatile standoff that continues to reshape international dynamics.
