Rajnath Singh Launches Strident Attack on LDF and UDF, Alleges Corruption and Economic Destruction in Kerala
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launched a fierce attack on Kerala’s LDF and UDF, accusing both fronts of corruption, economic destruction, and failure. Speaking in Paravur, he also referenced the Sabarimala gold scam, intensifying the political battle ahead of the Kerala Assembly elections.
Addressing an election rally in Paravur in Ernakulam district, Singh stated that it is “so unfortunate that the people in Kerala vote to expel one of them every five years, but the other one comes to power.” He further intensified his criticism by remarking that while LDF stands for “Loot, Divisive, Failure,” the UDF represents “Untrustworthy, Dishonesty, Fraud,” adding that the “Front in both stands for a friend of corruption.”
Paravur is among the 98 constituencies where the BJP has fielded its candidates for elections to the 140-member Kerala Assembly, marking a significant electoral contest in the state.
Responding to the Congress’s charge of a “tacit understanding” between the BJP and the CPI(M) to defeat the UDF, Singh dismissed the allegation and sharpened his attack on the LDF government. Referring to Kerala as “God’s own country,” he said, “In God’s own country, even God is not safe,” in a pointed remark linked to the Sabarimala gold scam case involving the theft and misappropriation of gold fro
m idols and door frames at the Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa shrine.
Invoking a biblical reference, Singh said, “Like Judas, (one of the 12 disciples of Jesus Christ) betrayed Jesus, the LDF government has betrayed Lord Ayyappa for some gold.” He further alleged that in a state where UDF and LDF are the same, “neither God nor the people are safe.”
The remarks underscore the intensifying political battle in Kerala, as allegations of corruption, governance failures, and religious sensitivities take center stage in the run-up to the Assembly elections.
