Fake Engine Oil Racket Busted in Uttar Pradesh’s Kannauj, One Arrested
Kannauj police busted a fake engine oil racket in Uttar Pradesh’s Chhibramau area, seizing a large quantity of counterfeit lubricant from Saurikh Road and arresting accused Jai Singh. Authorities say the operation aimed to stop consumer fraud and prevent potential damage to vehicles.
According to the Kannauj police, the recovery was made during an operation conducted on Saurikh Road in the Chhibramau area. Acting on specific inputs, officers intercepted the supply and found a significant quantity of counterfeit engine oil that was allegedly being sold in the market as genuine automotive lubricant. The accused, identified as Jai Singh, was taken into custody from the spot and placed under police detention.
Investigators stated that Jai Singh is suspected of running an illegal trade involving fake engine oil, deceiving vehicle owners and potentially putting engines at serious risk of damage. Police officials said the sale of such counterfeit products not only amounts to financial fraud but also poses safety concerns for consumers who rely on engine oil to maintain vehicle performance and longevity.
The police have initiated a detailed investigation to determine the source of the fake oil, the scale of the operation, and whether others are involved in the supply chain. Samples of the seized material are being examined, and supporting evidence collected during the raid is undergoing verification as part of the ongoing probe.
Authorities emphasized that strict legal action will be taken against those found involved in the manufacture or distribution of counterfeit automotive products. The crackdown, police said, reflects a broader effort to curb fraud, protect consumers, and prevent the circulation of substandard goods in the district.
