Armed Standoff in Shravasti: Two Wanted Theft Suspects Arrested, One Injured in Police Encounter
Two wanted suspects linked to a fertilizer shop theft were arrested after an armed encounter with police in Uttar Pradesh’s Shravasti district. One accused was injured in the crossfire and hospitalized, while investigators recovered weapons and stolen materials as they probe the duo’s wider criminal activities.
During the encounter, one of the suspects was struck by a bullet and immediately taken into custody, while the second was apprehended shortly after. Police personnel transported the injured man to the Community Health Centre in Gilola for treatment under supervision. Officers recovered a weapon at the scene along with materials linked to the theft case, strengthening the evidence trail against both men.
Authorities said the pair had been under scrutiny after emerging as key suspects in the break-in at a local fertilizer outlet, a theft that had raised concerns among traders and residents. Investigators are now examining the duo’s potential involvement in other criminal activities across the district, with further inquiries expected in the coming days.
The arrests mark a significant step for local law enforcement as they work to curb a string of property crimes and restore a sense of security in rural pockets of Shravasti.
