NSIC Raw Material Procurement Scheme Boosts Support for Registered MSMEs

The NSIC Raw Material Procurement Scheme offers registered MSMEs financial assistance for purchasing indigenous and imported raw materials for up to 90 days. With streamlined documentation and support for bulk buying, the scheme helps small enterprises reduce costs and maintain steady production.

In an effort to strengthen the manufacturing ecosystem for India’s micro and small enterprises, the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) continues to promote its Raw Material Procurement Scheme, designed to ease the financial burden on registered MSMEs and help them secure essential inputs for production. The initiative, which has become an important support mechanism within the sector, offers enterprises timely access to funds for purchasing both indigenous and imported raw materials, ensuring they can maintain consistent output and uphold product quality.

Under the scheme, eligible MSMEs receive financial assistance for procuring raw materials for a period of up to 90 days. This access to short-term credit enables manufacturers to take advantage of cost-saving opportunities such as bulk buying and cash discounts—benefits that often remain out of reach for smaller enterprises operating on restricted working capital. For businesses involved in importing materials, NSIC manages the documentation, procedural requirements, and issuance of letters of credit, significantly reducing administrative hurdles and turnaround time.

Only registered MSMEs can apply for this facility, and the process has been streamlined to ensure broader accessibility. Applicants are required to submit prescribed forms along with the applicable fee to NSIC’s regional or branch offices. Further details and guidelines are available through the NSIC’s official website, where entrepreneurs can review eligibility conditions and initiate the application process.

As MSMEs continue to serve as a backbone of India’s industrial and employment landscape, schemes like this remain essential in addressing recurring liquidity challenges and ensuring that enterprises can focus on maintaining efficiency, competitiveness, and quality. The initiative not only supports operational continuity but also contributes to a more resilient and growth-driven manufacturing sector.
