Jantar Mantar Assault Row: CJP Targets PM Modi Over Viral Bhardwaj Video

In its latest attack, the CJP directly addressed PM Modi and sought action against Bhardwaj over remarks heard in the viral video.

“Mr PM @narendramodi, this man is saying he has the ‘Guda’ to break open Nishu’s father’s head and admit it on camera. Will the PM order Delhi Police to arrest this man for the crimes he’s admitting? Or should Indians accept a lawless system? Cockroaches have the ‘guda’ to ensure justice for Nishu’s father,” the CJP wrote on X.

The CJP’s post came after a viral video surfaced in which Bhardwaj is heard claiming, “I cracked the skull of Nishu’s father. Do you know which section this crime attracts? Section 307. He needed 60 stitches. The man was being taken away in an ambulance in a serious condition. His daughter was standing outside the police station and saying that she would die by suicide if her father didn’t get justice. But I was not even jailed. The world should know this. I was out and about through the night.”

He is also heard saying, “I have the blessings of Hanuman. Secondly, Kapil Mishra is my elder brother. They say Kapil Mishra called and I was released. Chirag Paswan is my elder brother. How many leaders do you know... I have everyone’s support,” he said.

The remarks triggered a political row, with opposition leaders targeting the BJP and Delhi Police over the incident.

The CJP has also announced that its leaders will visit the Parliament Street Police Station on Friday to demand action in the case. Nishu Aazad has said, “I will be coming with my father.”

CJP spokesperson Saurav Das has demanded action against Bhardwaj and questioned the alleged role of Delhi minister Kapil Mishra. He has also sought an attempt-to-murder charge in the case.

Swantantra Bhardwaj, however, said the viral video was edited and circulated out of context. Speaking exclusively to Times Now, he claimed his remarks were sarcastic and were made while referring to allegations being circulated by others.

“Unfortunately, my video was edited and circulated out of context. The concluding portion of the video - where I clearly stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chirag Paswan, and Kapil Mishra are respected senior figures and that I fully support their work for Sanatan Dharma - was removed. As a result, the edited clip created the false impression that I was making a serious statement connecting Kapil Mishra or any political leader to the Nishu case.”

“My remarks were made in a sarcastic manner in response to claims that someone had received a phone call from Kapil Mishra and was subsequently released. I was merely repeating and mocking that allegation. I never claimed that Kapil Mishra, Prime Minister Modi, or any other political leader had intervened in the matter,” he said.

Bhardwaj also claimed that the legal process relating to him had already taken place and that the investigation was ongoing.

On the Jantar Mantar incident, Bhardwaj claimed that he was not supporting the protest organisation itself but supported the demands raised by protesters.

“During the incident, a man was recording me and making remarks. At that time, I did not know who he was or that he was related to Nishu. As the situation escalated, a crowd surrounded me in the presence of Delhi Police. I was pushed towards a dustbin, and there appeared to be an attempt to physically attack me. I was trying to protect myself and get out of the crowd,” he claimed.

“It was an act of self-defence during a dangerous confrontation, and the complete video available on social media should be viewed before reaching any conclusion.”

“I am not ashamed of anything,” Bhardwaj concluded.

Delhi Police said Sanjay Kumar sustained a head injury from a kada during a scuffle and was medically examined at RML Hospital. Police said the injuries were opined to be simple and that no weapon was involved.

Police also rejected claims regarding a skull fracture, saying the medical report did not support the alleged “crack in skull” claim.

Bhardwaj and another person, Suraj Kumar, were detained and served notices, according to police. They were interrogated and legal action was taken, with a chargesheet to be filed, police said.

Delhi Police also denied allegations of undue influence in the case.

The controversy continues as the CJP prepares to visit the Parliament Street Police Station with Nishu Aazad and her father, while Bhardwaj maintains that the viral clip was edited and that his remarks were taken out of context.
