India-Argentina Trade Talks Advance Lithium, Pharma and Investment Cooperation
India-Argentina trade ties gain momentum as KABIL advances lithium drilling in Catamarca, pharma market access improves, and cooperation expands across mining, agriculture, Ayurveda and Yoga.
The discussions focused on expanding investment opportunities in mining, energy and infrastructure, with Argentina’s lithium sector emerging as a key area of progress. India’s KABIL has completed Phase II drilling in Catamarca, marking the first lithium mining initiative by an Indian company in Argentina.
Further opportunities are being explored in Salta and Jujuy as India and Argentina continue to strengthen cooperation in the lithium sector.
Progress was also made towards opening Argentina’s market to Indian pharmaceutical products. The development is expected to improve access to quality and affordable healthcare in Argentina while creating greater opportunities for Indian pharmaceutical exporters.
Both sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation in Ayurveda and Yoga. The cooperation builds on the 2019 Memorandum of Understanding between Argentina’s ANMAT (National Administration of Drugs, Food and Medical Technology) and India’s CDSCO (Central Drugs Standard Control Organization).
Bilateral trade crossed 6.5 billion dollars in 2025, registering consistent annual growth of over 17 per cent. India is now Argentina’s fifth-largest trading partner, underscoring the expanding scale of economic engagement between the two countries.
The developments are expected to create more opportunities for Indian farmers and exporters, while strengthening agricultural trade and supporting India’s broader goal of achieving Viksit Bharat 2047.
