Fortis Hospital Mulund Launches Dedicated Adult Vaccination Clinic to Strengthen Preventive Healthcare

Fortis Hospital Mulund has launched a dedicated Adult Vaccination Clinic to strengthen preventive healthcare and improve adult immunization awareness in India. The facility will provide vaccination counselling, risk assessment, and immunization services for diseases including Influenza, Pneumonia, Hepatitis B, Shingles, Tetanus, and HPV under expert medical supervision.

In a major step toward strengthening preventive healthcare and expanding awareness around adult immunization, Fortis Hospital Mulund has launched a dedicated Adult Vaccination Clinic aimed at addressing the growing yet often neglected need for adult immunization. The clinic was inaugurated by Dr. Himmatrao Bawaskar in the presence of senior medical experts, hospital leadership, clinicians, and support staff, highlighting the increasing importance of adult vaccination in improving long-term public health outcomes.

The newly launched clinic will function under the leadership of Dr. Kirti Sabnis, Consultant and Infectious Diseases Specialist at Fortis Hospital Mulund. The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Dr. S. Narayani, Business Head of Fortis Hospitals Maharashtra, Dr. Vishal Beri, Facility Director of Fortis Hospital Mulund, and other senior healthcare professionals.

The Adult Vaccination Clinic has been established as a comprehensive centre offering vaccination counselling, risk assessment, and immunization services under one roof. The initiative is designed to increase awareness about vaccines that protect adults against serious infections including Influenza, Pneumonia, Hepatitis B, Shingles, Tetanus, Human Papillomavirus infection, and several other preventable diseases that can significantly affect adult health and quality of life.

Hospital authorities emphasized that while vaccination is commonly linked with childhood healthcare, adults remain vulnerable to infections due to weakening immunity, advancing age, chronic medical conditions, occupational exposure, travel-related risks, and compromised immune systems. The clinic will provide personalized vaccination guidance based on an individual’s age, lifestyle, health status, medical history, and travel requirements.

Speaking at the launch, Dr. Kirti Sabnis stated that nearly 95 percent of deaths related to vaccine-preventable diseases in India occur among adults. She described adult vaccination as one of the most underutilized preventive healthcare measures in the country and said many individuals remain unaware that immunity against several diseases declines over time. She added that the newly launched clinic has been designed as a one-stop destination where people can receive expert consultation and vaccination during the same visit. According to her, the initiative aims to improve awareness, increase vaccine acceptance, and support healthier ageing across communities.

Dr. Vishal Beri said the future of healthcare lies not only in treatment but also in prevention. He described the launch of the Adult Vaccination Clinic as an important move toward empowering individuals to take proactive steps for their health. He further noted that increasing life expectancy and the growing prevalence of chronic diseases have made adult immunization more significant in reducing disease burden, preventing complications, and promoting healthy ageing. He said the hospital intends to make evidence-based vaccination services more accessible while encouraging greater awareness about immunization at every stage of life.

Padma Shri awardee Dr. Himmatrao Bawaskar, who attended the inauguration as chief guest, stressed that preventive healthcare remains the foundation of a healthier society. He described adult vaccination as a powerful yet frequently overlooked healthcare intervention capable of preventing severe illnesses, reducing hospital admissions, and improving quality of life. He added that dedicated vaccination clinics play an essential role in spreading awareness and making preventive healthcare more accessible to the public.

Dr. S. Narayani said that although childhood vaccination programmes have significantly improved public health in India, awareness regarding adult immunization continues to remain limited. She stated that the newly launched clinic aims to bridge this gap by providing easier access to expert consultation and vaccines. She added that as healthcare systems increasingly shift toward prevention, such initiatives are critical for reducing infectious disease burden, preventing complications caused by declining immunity, and ensuring healthier and more protected lives.

The Adult Vaccination Clinic will operate from Monday to Saturday between 12:00 PM and 5:00 PM at Block A in the Outpatient Department area of Fortis Hospital Mulund. The facility will offer walk-in consultations, counselling, and vaccination services for adults seeking preventive healthcare support.

The launch of the Adult Vaccination Clinic marks a significant development in India’s growing focus on preventive healthcare and disease prevention. By promoting awareness and improving access to adult immunization, the initiative is expected to strengthen community health outcomes while encouraging a more proactive approach toward lifelong protection against infectious diseases.
