Live Events Development Cell Sets Ambitious Vision to Transform India into Global Live Entertainment Hub by 2030
The fourth meeting of the Live Events Development Cell was held in New Delhi under Secretary Chanchal Kumar, with participation from central ministries, states, and industry members. The meeting outlined India’s roadmap to expand the live events sector, targeting global leadership by 2030, massive job creation, and strong economic growth through transparent governance and coordinated development.
Addressing the gathering, Secretary Chanchal Kumar underscored the pivotal role of the Live Events Development Cell in formulating a coordinated roadmap for the expansion of India’s live events industry. He stated that the live events sector stands as one of the fastest-growing segments within the Media and Entertainment industry, making a substantial contribution to employment generation, tourism promotion, and broader economic multiplier effects across allied sectors. He further assured that all necessary facilitation will be extended to ensure that processes for organising live events remain robust, efficient, and transparent.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting established the Live Events Development Cell in July last year with the objective of strengthening the sector’s institutional framework. The Cell aims to position the concert economy as a key driver of national growth and to establish India as a global hub for live events by 2030. It also envisions the creation of 15 to 20 million additional jobs through sustained sectoral expansion.
During the meeting, it was highlighted that the live events industry in India is projected to grow at a rate of 10 percent, reaching an estimated value of 196 billion rupees by 2028. The deliberations reaffirmed the government’s commitment to structured growth, inter-ministerial coordination, and industry participation to unlock the sector’s full potential.
The meeting concluded with a renewed focus on transforming India’s live events ecosystem into a globally competitive and professionally governed industry, reinforcing its role as a major contributor to economic development and employment generation.
