The investigation, led by Joint Commissioner of Police Vijay Kumar, revealed that Meena’s dismissal was prompted by numerous complaints regarding his habit of borrowing money from nearby domestic staff and peers without repayment. This financial desperation was reportedly fueled by an intense addiction to online gaming. Familiar with the family’s daily routine and the layout of the residence, Meena entered the colony at 6:30 am and gained access to the house nine minutes later. CCTV footage captured the accused exiting the premises at 7:20 am, having changed out of his blood-stained trousers and shoes into a pair of slippers and trousers belonging to the victim’s brother. While he discarded the soiled clothing, the Joint Commissioner noted that the shirt worn during the crime remains part of the recovered evidence.
The depravity of the Delhi incident followed a similar violent episode in Alwar, Rajasthan, where Meena allegedly raped the wife of a friend. The Alwar victim’s husband, with whom Meena frequently played Ludo, had previously hosted Meena’s family as tenants. Following that assault, a rape case was registered against him in Alwar. To facilitate his return to the capital, Meenasold a mobile phone for Rs 10,000 and booked a private car to Delhi for Rs 6,000, eventually fleeing from the driver without payment before walking to the bureaucrat’s home.
Authorities apprehended Meena at a hotel in Delhi’s Dwarka area where he had been in hiding. Police are currently interrogating the suspect to confirm if his motives were rooted in a predatory mindset or a deep-seated grudge stemming from his termination. He now faces formal charges of rape, murder, and robbery. This harrowing case underscores a catastrophic breach of trust and safety within a high-security residential area, leaving a family devastated and raising urgent questions regarding the vetting of domestic help and the violent consequences of unaddressed criminal patterns.
