The Maharashtra government, led by CM Devendra Fadnavis, has approved 18 mega industrial projects worth Rs 2.56 lakh crore. This massive investment across sectors like green energy, EV, and defense aims to create 1 lakh jobs and transform Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Konkan into high-tech manufacturing hubs, boosting local MSMEs and global supply chains.

n a decisive move to solidify Maharashtra’s stature as a global manufacturing and technology powerhouse, the state government has sanctioned a colossal suite of industrial proposals valued at Rs 2.56 lakh crore. Chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the high-level meeting greenlit 18 mega and ultra-mega projects designed to catalyze investment inflows and generate over 1 lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities. This strategic expansion, cleared during the 14th meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Industries, Energy, Labour and Mining, saw the participation of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Industries Minister Uday Samant, and top-tier bureaucrats. The approved ventures span critical and emerging sectors, including renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, electric mobility, defense equipment, and green fuels, specifically targeting solar manufacturing, lithium-ion batteries, electric vehicle components, green steel, green ammonia, and gas-to-chemical production.

The administrative focus on clean energy and high-technology manufacturing underscores a rigorous effort to position the state as the premier destination for future-ready industries while ensuring balanced regional development across Vidarbha, Marathwada, Konkan, and western Maharashtra. Leading the investment surge, Essar Exploration and Production Ltd. will deploy Rs 56,852 crore in Raigad, a move expected to yield approximately 25,000 jobs. In Gadchiroli, Rashmi Metallurgical Industries Pvt. Ltd. plans a Rs 40,000 crore project to create 20,000 jobs. ACME Cleantech Solutions Pvt. Ltd. has committed to multiple high-impact investments, including a Rs 37,800 crore green ammonia project and a Rs 11,400 crore green steel project. Furthermore, Godavari New Energy Pvt. Ltd. is set to invest Rs 27,515 crore in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, complemented by significant outlays from Globe Forge Limited at Rs 15,430 crore, Solar Defence and Aerospace Ltd. at Rs 12,780 crore, and Ashok Leyland Ltd. at Rs 10,000 crore.

Beyond these industrial giants, the government has approved vital mid-sized projects including Jabil Circuit India Pvt. Ltd. in Pune, Eurobus India Pvt. Ltd. in Talegaon, and Nidec Global Appliances India Pvt. Ltd. in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, further diversifying the manufacturing sector. Officials emphasize that these projects will stimulate local economies by modernizing industrial infrastructure and fostering robust opportunities for ancillary industries, particularly micro, small, and medium enterprises. By strengthening supply chains, encouraging research and development, and enhancing workforce skill sets, these investments are poised to transform the economic landscape of districts like Gadchiroli and Chandrapur, ensuring that Maharashtra’s trajectory toward a technology-driven future is both inclusive and geographically comprehensive.
