Nalanda Outrage: Eight Arrested in Public Harassment Case as Pappu Yadav Slams Government Inaction

Eight people were arrested in Bihar’s Nalanda after a woman was publicly harassed and paraded, sparking political outrage. MP Pappu Yadav criticized government inaction and raised concerns over societal decline, while police warned against sharing viral video content linked to the case.

A shocking incident of public harassment involving a woman in Nalanda has triggered political uproar after eight individuals were arrested for allegedly molesting her and parading her on the road. The case, which emerged from the Noorsarai area a few days ago, has intensified debate over law and order, with a viral video clip of the incident circulating widely on social media.

Responding sharply to the development, Purnia MP Pappu Yadav stated that he is traveling to Nalanda over what he described as a critical issue concerning the victim. He remarked that the incident has already occurred and accused the government of failing in its responsibilities, alleging that it shows no concern for what is happening on the ground.

Expressing outrage over the nature of the crime, Yadav described the act of molestation, including alleged tampering with the woman’s private parts and the act of a crowd recording videos, as deeply disturbing. He further stated that societal thinking has deteriorated, citing what he described as an increasing prevalence of substance abuse and the consumption of obscene videos among 80–85 percent of people. He added that the failure to treat daughters with dignity and the tendency to derive enjoyment instead of protesting such acts is deeply distressing.

Yadav also targeted political leadership, stating that it is extremely unfortunate that neither ruling party nor opposition legislators visited the victim following the incident. He further alleged that Droupadi Murmu had visited the area but did not speak a word for daughters. He emphasized that such heinous acts against women are occurring repeatedly in Bihar and questioned what could be more serious than such incidents. He added that daughters are unsafe in colleges, hostels, and villages, asserting that the Nalanda incident has brought shame and demanding strict government action.

Separately, Yadav commented on the stampede at a temple in Nalanda, stating that such incidents are not isolated and recalling a similar occurrence in Jehanabad. He noted that stampedes are being reported across the country and alleged that unethical practices by temple authorities, including exploitative behavior toward devotees, often lead to such chaos due to the rush for quick दर्शन.
