This mission marks the first human journey toward the Moon in 54 years. It carries a four-member crew aboard the Orion capsule, each playing a critical role in this landmark expedition. Reid Wiseman serves as the mission commander, while Victor Glover is the pilot and the first Black astronaut to travel near the Moon. Christina Koch joins as a mission specialist and becomes the first woman to participate in a Moon mission. Jeremy Hansen, also a mission specialist, represents Canada as the first Canadian astronaut to travel near the Moon.
Artemis 2 is not a landing mission but a 10-day test mission designed to validate deep-space capabilities. The crew will travel close to the Moon, orbit around it, and return safely to Earth.
