Yogi Adityanath Unveils Major Push for Sports Infrastructure Across Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announces a sweeping plan to develop sports infrastructure across the state, including sports colleges in every division, district-level stadiums and mini-stadiums at block level. The initiative aims to accelerate youth development and strengthen UP’s sporting ecosystem.
Adityanath declared that each divisional headquarters should house a dedicated sports college, a move aimed at providing structured training, academic support and professional exposure to aspiring sportspersons. Extending this vision further, he stated that every district headquarters would receive a fully equipped stadium, while every block would be allotted a mini-stadium to ensure grassroots-level access to training and sporting activities.
According to the Chief Minister, the government intends to execute this infrastructure expansion on “war footing,” with active state involvement to ensure timely development and consistent quality. He stressed that such investments are essential not only to promote competitive sports but also to encourage physical fitness, youth engagement and a culture of discipline and achievement.
The initiative marks one of the state’s most comprehensive plans for sports development and signals a strategic attempt to position Uttar Pradesh as a major hub for athletic talent. If implemented effectively, the new network of facilities could play a transformative role in creating broader opportunities for young sportspersons and boosting the state’s presence in national and international competitions.
