A gold trader in Modinagar, Ghaziabad was brutally killed inside his shop on Wednesday morning, in a shocking incident that has rattled the busy Govindpuri Main Market. The attack, carried out by two assailants moments after the shop opened, was captured entirely on CCTV and has triggered an intensive police investigation.

According to preliminary information, jeweller Giridhari Lal had just started his business day when two men entered his store under the pretext of being customers. One of them suddenly threw chilli powder at him, blinding him momentarily, while the other launched a swift and violent knife attack. The assault, marked by repeated stabbings, left the trader fatally injured before he could defend himself or call for help.

The chilling footage from the shop’s security camera shows the attackers attempting to flee immediately after the stabbing. However, people present nearby rushed toward the commotion, managing to overpower and capture one of the suspects on the spot. The second attacker fled the scene and is currently on the run.

Police teams quickly arrived, secured the area, and took the apprehended suspect into custody for interrogation. Officials have stated that the attack appears to be a robbery attempt that escalated into a lethal assault, though all angles are being examined. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from the shop and surrounding market to track the escaped assailant’s route and identify potential accomplices.
