Mumbai Coastal Road Speeding Case: Police Book 6-7 Drivers for Reckless Driving

Mumbai Police have booked unidentified drivers after six to seven high-end cars were allegedly driven at dangerous speeds on Mumbai’s Coastal Road near Marine Drive. A viral video prompted police action and an ongoing investigation.

Mumbai Police have registered a case against a group of unidentified drivers for allegedly driving at high speed on the Coastal Road near Marine Drive and putting their own and other road users’ lives at risk.

Police said efforts were underway to identify and trace the locations of six to seven cars and their drivers. The vehicles, mostly high-end cars, were allegedly seen speeding together, and a video of the incident has since gone viral on social media.

Sana Khan, a journalist who recorded the video, told mid-day that she had gone out with her family when several cars suddenly sped past them in a frightening manner inside the Coastal Road tunnel. She said the usual speed limit there is 60 kmph, but the cars were travelling at a dangerously high speed.

Khan said she recorded the incident and posted the video on social media, following which the police took action. She thanked the Mumbai Police for taking the matter seriously and said strict action should be taken against those who, for their own enjoyment, fail to consider the lives of others.
