Union Cabinet Applauds Prime Minister Narendra Modi as He Becomes India’s Longest-Serving Elected Prime Minister

Prime Minister Narendra Modi became India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister in consecutive terms after completing 4,399 days in office, surpassing Jawaharlal Nehru’s record. The Union Cabinet passed a resolution in his honour, while national leaders, global dignitaries, and public figures extended congratulations on the historic milestone.

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday passed a resolution congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi for becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister in consecutive terms, as he completed 4,399 days in office. Cabinet members also gave a standing ovation to the Prime Minister in recognition of the milestone.

With the completion of 4,399 consecutive days in office, Prime Minister Modi surpassed the record of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, who had served 4,398 consecutive days after India’s first general election.

Marking the occasion, Prime Minister Modi described public service as the highest test of good governance. Sharing a Sanskrit verse on the social media platform X, he emphasized that humility, dedication, and a sense of duty are essential virtues for earning the trust of the people.

In his message, the Prime Minister stated, “Public service is the biggest test of good governance. Only a person who works continuously with humility, dedication and dutifulness earns public trust.”

The verse shared by the Prime Minister conveyed that a ruler devoted to the welfare and care of the people, and guided by humility, attains greater prosperity and success.

The achievement prompted congratulatory messages from National Democratic Alliance leaders, international dignitaries, and prominent personalities from various sectors.

Former President Ram Nath Kovind described Prime Minister Modi’s 12-year tenure as a watershed period in India’s post-Independence history. He praised the government for overcoming the sense of inferiority that had been created during the colonial era and for strengthening national confidence.

Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Mansukh Mandaviya, along with Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, offered prayers for the Prime Minister on the occasion.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that Prime Minister Modi’s achievement was the result of the affection, trust, and overwhelming support of millions of Indians. He described the Prime Minister’s journey of 4,399 days in office as a golden chapter in the building of a strong, prosperous, developed, and self-reliant India.

Congratulatory messages also arrived from abroad. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim led the international tributes, commending Prime Minister Modi for his significant contribution to India’s rise on the global stage.

United States Ambassador to India Sergio Gor also praised the Prime Minister’s enduring political journey. In a message, Ambassador Gor said, “Congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister. This achievement is a powerful testament to his decades of dedicated public service and leadership. Wishing him all the best.”

The milestone marks a significant moment in India’s political history, reflecting Prime Minister Modi’s uninterrupted tenure in office and drawing recognition from political leaders, government officials, and international figures for his years of public service and leadership.
