Kauvery Hospital Conducts Life-Saving AED and Basic Life Support Training for Southern Railway Staff in Tirunelveli
Kauvery Hospital Tirunelveli conducted a Basic Life Support and AED awareness training program for Southern Railway staff at Tirunelveli Railway Station. More than 100 participants attended the initiative focused on emergency preparedness, lifesaving response techniques, and effective use of Automated External Defibrillator devices in critical medical situations.
The initiative focused on equipping railway personnel with critical emergency response skills to handle life-threatening medical situations before advanced medical assistance becomes available. Kauvery Hospital had previously donated AED devices to Southern Railway as part of efforts to improve emergency preparedness and rapid response capabilities at the railway station.
During the training session, practical demonstrations were conducted on the operation of AED machines and the application of Basic Life Support techniques during emergencies. The session was led by a Senior Doctor from the Department of Emergency Medicine, who provided hands-on guidance to participants on responding effectively during cardiac emergencies and other critical health incidents.
The program also highlighted the importance of immediate lifesaving interventions that can significantly improve survival chances during medical emergencies occurring in crowded public locations such as railway stations.
Dr. Lakshmanan, Medical Administrator of Kauvery Hospital, Tirunelveli, addressed the gathering and emphasised the critical need for emergency preparedness and timely medical response in public infrastructure facilities. He stated that early intervention through trained personnel and readily available AED devices can play a crucial role in saving lives during emergencies.
Railway Chief Medical Officer Dr. Raja Gobalan, along with the Railway Station Master and Railway Station Manager, attended the event and extended full support towards the successful organisation of the training program. They also encouraged active participation among railway staff members to ensure greater readiness during emergency situations.
The program underscored the growing importance of collaborative efforts between healthcare institutions and public transport authorities in building safer public environments and strengthening emergency medical response systems for passengers and staff alike.
