Galgotias University Students Engage With Veteran IPS Officer Vivek Dube on Leadership, Ethics and Nation Building
Students at Galgotias University participated in an engaging interaction with veteran IPS officer Vivek Dube during the Galgotias Dialogue Series. The discussion focused on leadership, ethics, policing, public service, national security, UPSC preparation, integrity, and nation building, offering students valuable insights into governance and responsible leadership.
The session was organised by Galgotias Career Connect, a student-led club dedicated to industry interaction, leadership engagement, and career awareness. Conducted under the Galgotias Dialogue Series, the platform aims to connect students with distinguished policymakers, administrators, entrepreneurs, public leaders, professionals, and thinkers from diverse sectors to help broaden perspectives beyond conventional academic learning.
The interaction witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across multiple disciplines and evolved into a candid exchange of ideas shaped by questions, reflections, and experiences drawn from Shri Vivek Dube’s four-decade-long career in public service.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Vivek Dube spoke extensively about the evolution of policing in India. He traced the transformation of the policing system from the Police Act introduced after 1857 to the shift from the Imperial Police to the Indian Police Service. He explained the role of the police in maintaining law and order, detailed legal procedures related to criminal investigations, and highlighted the challenges involved in crowd management and ensuring public safety in a rapidly changing and complex society.
The veteran officer also reflected on the broader justice delivery system, describing the police, judiciary, and prison administration as three interconnected pillars that must function with fairness, transparency, and accountability to uphold justice while safeguarding innocent citizens. Discussions during the session further covered terrorism, national security, leadership under pressure, and the importance of honesty and integrity in both personal and professional life.
The event became particularly engaging during the interactive segment as students raised questions on leadership, UPSC preparation, motivation, emotional resilience, and balancing personal emotions with professional responsibilities. Responding to the queries, Shri Vivek Dube advised students to recognise their strengths, maintain discipline, and pursue excellence with determination instead of becoming distracted by criticism or external validation. He also underlined the importance of physical fitness, mental well-being, and effective time management in achieving sustained professional success.
During the interaction, Shri Vivek Dube expressed appreciation for the sprawling campus and academic ecosystem being developed at Galgotias University. He stated that he was especially impressed by the enthusiasm, curiosity, and active participation demonstrated by students throughout the session. He emphasised that educational institutions play a critical role not only in delivering technical education but also in shaping responsible citizens and future leaders through discussions on ethics, governance, leadership, and public service.
Speaking on the occasion, Dhruv Galgotia, CEO of Galgotias University, said that the institution believes students must engage not only with technology and professional education but also with larger questions concerning governance, leadership, ethics, and nation building. He added that the Galgotias Dialogue Series was envisioned as a platform where students could interact with distinguished personalities from different walks of life and gain perspectives that help shape them into aware, responsible, and future-ready individuals.
The session concluded with an inspiring message focused on integrity, perseverance, self-belief, and purposeful leadership. Shri Vivek Dube was felicitated by Mr. Saksham Saxena and the Vice Presidents in recognition of his interaction and contribution to the event. The programme ended on a reflective and motivating note, leaving students with significant insights into leadership, public service, governance, and personal growth.
