Chargesheet Reveals Bishnoi Gang’s Planned Attack on Rohit Shetty’s Mumbai Residence

A detailed Mumbai Police chargesheet has exposed how jailed gangster Anmol Bishnoi allegedly orchestrated a planned firing attack on filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Juhu residence through a live video call. The investigation has revealed a wider criminal conspiracy linked to the Bishnoi gang, leading to multiple arrests and the invocation of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act.

A 1,624-page chargesheet filed by the Mumbai Police has revealed chilling details of a planned attack orchestrated by jailed gangster Anmol Bishnoi against Bollywood film director and producer Rohit Shetty earlier this year. According to investigators, a shooter sent by the Bishnoi gang initially failed to execute the attack after panicking outside Shetty’s residence in Mumbai’s Juhu area before later returning and opening fire at the building.

The chargesheet stated that accused Deepak Sharma was first sent to target Shetty’s residence in January. Sharma allegedly remained hidden outside the filmmaker’s residence for nearly 30 minutes but fled the scene without firing a single shot after losing his nerve.

Following the failed attempt, Sharma reportedly communicated directly with Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. During the conversation, Anmol Bishnoi reprimanded Sharma over the phone and fixed a new date for the attack.

Investigators said February 1 was subsequently chosen for the second attempt. At approximately 12.45 am that night, Sharma allegedly returned to Shetty’s nine-storey apartment building in Juhu and fired five rounds toward the first floor of the property. One bullet struck the glass of a gym inside the building. No injuries were reported in the incident.

According to the chargesheet, the attack was carried out under direct supervision from Anmol Bishnoi, who remained connected with Sharma through a live video call during the operation. Officials said Bishnoi stayed on the call from the moment the shots were fired until the accused escaped from the area, allegedly providing guidance and encouragement throughout the attack.

Police investigations revealed that Sharma and three other accused had arrived in Juhu on the day of the incident and later escaped in an autorickshaw to Kalyan in neighbouring Thane district. The group reportedly held a meeting at another accused person’s residence in Kalyan before fleeing to northern states by train.

Authorities stated that the firing was not a spontaneous act but part of a premeditated criminal conspiracy intended to establish the dominance of the Bishnoi gang.

So far, 15 people, including main accused Shubham Lonkar and Arzoo Bishnoi, have been arrested in connection with the case. Police said Lonkar and Arzoo Bishnoi had claimed responsibility for the attack through a social media post.

Investigators also revealed that Shubham Lonkar is wanted in the murder case of Nationalist Congress Party leader Baba Siddique as well as in the firing incident outside actor Salman Khan’s residence in Bandra.

Police further stated that the accused had been hiding at a location in Haryana allegedly arranged by Ritik Yadav, who has also been arrested in the case.

Apart from Deepak Sharma and Ritik Yadav, those arrested include Sunny Thakur, Sonu, Jatin Bharadwaj, Vishal Thakur, Vishnu Kushwah, Aditya Gayaki, Siddharth Yenpure, Samarth Pomaji, Swapnil Sakat, and Asaram Fasale.

The chargesheet also named Pravin Lonkar, brother of Shubham Lonkar, who is already lodged in prison in another firing case. Investigators alleged that Pravin Lonkar played a role in the conspiracy, including weapon supply, financial transactions, and influencing the accused individuals.

The Mumbai Police have invoked the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act in the case as investigations continue into the alleged criminal network linked to the Bishnoi gang. The revelations in the chargesheet have exposed the depth of planning behind the attack and highlighted the expanding reach of organised criminal syndicates operating across multiple states.
