India Calls for Unified Global Action Against Terrorism at BRICS Counter Terrorism Meeting

Addressing the high-level meeting, Ministry of External Affairs Secretary (West) Sibi George emphasised that terrorism continues to pose a serious threat to global peace and stability. He underlined the importance of adopting a zero-tolerance approach against terrorism and called for decisive international measures to combat terror financing, radicalisation, and the growing misuse of emerging technologies by terrorist groups.

Highlighting India’s concerns over cross-border terrorism, Sibi George said countries supporting and sheltering terror organisations must be held accountable. He stressed that global efforts against terrorism can succeed only through collective responsibility, deeper cooperation, and stronger enforcement mechanisms among nations.

The Ministry of External Affairs Secretary also urged BRICS nations to strengthen their anti-terror cooperation framework and make the grouping’s counter-terror mechanism more resilient, inclusive, and outcome-oriented. He called for enhanced coordination among member countries to address evolving security threats and prevent extremist groups from exploiting technological advancements for terror activities.

The meeting assumed significance amid rising global concerns over transnational terrorism, extremist financing networks, and digital radicalisation. India’s strong message at the BRICS platform reaffirmed its continued push for tougher international action against terrorism and greater global accountability against states and entities linked to terror support systems.
