Jaishankar Warns of Weaponisation of Global Systems Amid Rising Geopolitical Uncertainty
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar warned about the weaponisation of finance, technology, resources and connectivity in global geopolitics, saying the world is becoming increasingly uncertain and risk-driven. He highlighted India’s contribution of 17 percent to global growth and its role in de-risking the international economy through expanding trade partnerships.
Highlighting the changing nature of international relations, Jaishankar stated that economic tools and technological systems are increasingly being used as instruments of geopolitical influence and pressure. According to him, the emerging global environment is no longer defined solely by traditional diplomacy and trade, but by strategic control over critical sectors and international networks.
Emphasising India’s growing importance in the evolving world order, Jaishankar said the country now contributes 17 percent to global growth. He asserted that India is playing a major role in helping “de-risk” the international economy by expanding its trade partnerships and strengthening economic engagement with multiple regions.
The External Affairs Minister’s remarks underscore India’s increasing influence in global economic and geopolitical affairs at a time when nations are reassessing supply chains, strategic alliances and economic dependencies amid rising global instability.
